When you come for treatment

In your first appointment I will start by taking a case history, focusing initially on your main reason/s for coming for treatment. We will also discuss your broader medical history, lifestyle, etc., in order to assess your condition and to formulate an appropriate treatment strategy.

The choice is always yours as to whether you have treatment with Shiatsu, acupuncture, herbs or other techniques, such as moxa or cupping. I will discuss with you which mode/s of treatment you would prefer, which might be best suited to your needs, and whether a combination of these therapies might be appropriate.

Before we can commence treatment, I will need you to sign an Informed Consent form. You can read that here. If the client is a child under the age of sixteen, I will need a parent or legal guardian to sign the Informed Consent form.

A standard session is one hour, and I see only one client at a time. In the first session, depending on the complexity of the case, the time spent taking your history may mean less ‘hands-on’ treatment time than in subsequent sessions. Generally, a standard, one-hour session is sufficient, but you may want to consider booking a longer appointment if your case history is particularly complex.

Confidentiality will be absolutely respected at all times.

Please note that it may be necessary to loosen or remove some items of clothing for acupuncture, moxa or cupping treatments, provided you are comfortable with that. Towels would be draped, so as to expose just the area to be accessed.

Please arrive on time.  I cannot keep the next client waiting by extending appointments beyond the allotted time.
